Bradenton, Florida Mufti MD, Zahir
Zahir Mufti MD, of Bradenton, FL, passed away on Sept. 4, 2011 after a brief illness. He was 73.
Born in Batala, India on March 22, 1938 he was a son of the late Assiz and Anwar (Sultana) Mufti.
Dr. Mufti immigrated to the United States in 1969, practicing in Pittsfield, MA, Connersville, IN and in Utica, NY. In Utica, he operated a private cardiology practice and became Director of the Faxton Hospital in Utica. He and his wife Barbara retired to Bradenton, Fl where they resided for the last six years.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Mufti is predeceased by his brother, Shahid Mufti.
Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Faulkner of Bradenton, FL, a son, Benjamin Mufti of Washington D.C. and his brothers Akhtar, Mazhar, Izhar and Safeer Mufti and their families.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10am on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville (518 664-3731). Burial will be in Hudson View Cemetery, Mechanicville.
