Wilma S. Warren, 90, of Johnsonville passed away peacefully on September 7th.
Wilma was born in Schaghticoke, daughter of the late Margaret Hawley Smith, and wife of 59 years to the late Robert Downing Warren. The youngest of nine, Wilma often referred to herself as "the caboose".
Wilma graduated from Hoosic Valley Central School in 1949. She was employed as a secretary at General Electric in Schenectady, leaving to raise her family. She returned to school in 1970, graduating with a Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Mary McClellan School of Practical Nursing. She worked at Leonard Hospital for more than twenty years and was honored with the first Leonard Hospital LPN of the Year Award. Her life was dedicated to the care of others, especially family.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Johnsonville, a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout Den Mother and 4-H Leader. She also had been a member and treasurer in the Johnsonville Volunteer Ambulance.
Wilma was a devoted Yankees fan and enjoyed watching games with her family. She loved reaching out to friends and family with birthday, anniversary, and holiday cards.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Warren of Troy and Diane Warren of Holliston, MA, sister-in-laws Gerry Smith, Beverly "Sis" Warren, and Gail Warren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother and husband, Wilma is predeceased by her son, Robert Dennis Warren, and siblings Hazel, Paul, Margaret, William, Helen, Kenneth, Dorothy, and Barbara.
Calling hours will be on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 4-6:00pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am with burial to follow in Millertown Cemetery, Johnsonville.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions may be made in memory of Wilma S. Warren to the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corp, Pittstown Area Food Pantry and Community Hospice.
