William Edward Ontkush, "Bill", of Otsego Avenue in Troy, formerly of Stillwater, passed away on April 18, 2024 with his family by his side. He was 70 years old.
Born on November 20, 1953 in Troy, NY to the late Edward "Skip" and Stella V. (Stockwicz) Ontkush.
Bill graduated from Stillwater High School then he went on to serve proudly in the United States Army, serving from 1972-1975. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal where he was employed as a pipe fitter.
Survivors include his beloved significant other of 27 years Robin Kratky of Troy. His cherished five daughters, Mary (Jeff) DeMarco, Melinda Ontkush, Danielle (Nick) Ontkush, Stephanie Ontkush and Katherine Ontkush. The mother of his children, Sheila Ontkush, and their grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daisia, Cameron, Nicholas and Violet. He has four step-children who lovingly called him "Bull", Paulette (Matt) Welch, Bobbie Jo (Vic) Spairana, Tara (Shawn) Ross and Sydney Bailey. His step-grandchildren, Alex, Garrett, Nick, Max, Isabella, Gabe, Brandon, Riley, Ahlaina, Aiden and Carter. His four siblings include Barbara (Ed) Raymond of Stillwater, Elizabeth Gonzalez of Albany, Tamar Adolf of Syracuse and George (Linda) Ontkush of Valley Falls. Many nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends also survive Bill.
In addition to his late parents, Bill is predeceased in death by his brother-in-law Henry Gonzalez and niece, Niki Gonzalez.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at precisely Noon, 12 PM, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Please gather at the entrance way to the cemetery at 11:40, no earlier than 11:30 please. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon at the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks, 300 Park Avenue in Mechanicville from 1 pm to 3pm.
