Wallace H. Chapman passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Evergreen Commons in Rensselaer. He was 87.
Born in Troy on January 10, 1927, son of the late Wallace E. and Aurilla (Horton) Chapman.
Mr. Chapman graduated from the Hoosic Valley Central Schools and went on to serve in the US Army from 1945-1946. He taught at Manpower Inc., of Albany and then taught automotives at Hudson Valley Community College and owned and operated Wally's Tune Up on Schaghticoke Hill, which later became Greg's Bike Shop. A life-long environmentalist, he was also involved in numerous photography, bicycle and automobile clubs and in 1950, he cofounded the Automobilists of the Upper Hudson Valley, Inc. and was a member of the C.A.M.E.R.A. Club in Glenville.
Survivors include his son, John T. (Diane) Chapman and his daughter Dana L. Masters, grandchildren Steven J. Masters and Dominick G.A. Masters, cousins Betty Innamorato and Catherine Rutherford.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Roy S. Chapman.
Relatives and friends may call from 12-2pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 Route 40, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be held at 2pm in the church.
