Washington County - Valley Falls, NY Waite J. Palmer Waite J. Palmer of Beadle Hill Road passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 as result of an accident. He was 62. Born in Elizabethtown, NY on August 1, 1953 a son of the late Lyman and Tina (King) Palmer. Waite worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He was Highway superintendent of the Town of Essex for two terms. He was a lifetime member of the Whallonsburgh Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served numerous terms as President. He enjoyed the outdoors and his man cave, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A very giving person, he touched many lives with his big brother type nature. Survivors include his spouse, Shelly W. Mero of Valley Falls, his siblings, Douglas (Katherine) Palmer of Anderson, SC, Morna (Edward) Cragle of Peru, Lyman (Judy) Palmer of Port Orchard, WA, his sister in laws Mary Stevenson, Ruth Palmer, brother in law Ron Bose and beloved nieces and nephews Douglas (Becky) Palmer, Jr.,Juanita, Karen and Joan Lorna, Larry and Eric. Lyman III, Brian, Frank and Joey. with Misty and David Mercury, and Pete Palmer. Heather Michael J, Jr., Richard (Kami), Roger and Rodney, Jr., Along with several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special family where he became an Uncle and he will forever be a guiding force in their lives. They include Jason (December) and Allan Demar. Amanda Demar. Allison and Rease Benway and his God son Alex Benway. Kyle,(Lori) and God son Kenneth. He is predeceased by his siblings, Selwyn "Skip" Palmer, Michael Palmer and Wanda Sue Bose. Relatives and friends may call from 2-6:00pm on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm in the funeral home.
