Doriski, Viola - Schaghticoke, Rensselaer Co., (1924 - 2014) Viola (Isaacs) Doriski, 89, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Barnwell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Valatie, NY. Born in Maxwell, OK, Viola was a graduate of Vanoss High School, Vanoss, OK where she excelled at basketball. She later worked as a telephone operator and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII. Viola enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bowling, traveling and singing. She loved life, saw only the good in everyone and always had a song in her heart. Survivors include her husband, John Doriski; her son, Alvin (Connie) Doriski of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Patricia Doriski Andes and Allene Doriski, both of Schaghticoke, NY; a sister, Elizabeth McCowan of Texas and a brother, Donald (Nancy) Isaacs of Moore, OK. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Viola was predeceased by her parents, James and Willie Isaacs; a brother, Henry Lee Isaacs; three sisters, Ollie McCabe, Winona Herrmann and Allene Isaacs all of Oklahoma and a son, John Doriski, Jr. of Schaghticoke, NY. Relatives and friends may call from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 5 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Viola's memory can be made to Stillwater United Church, 747 Hudson Avenue, PO Box 480, Stillwater, NY 12170.
