Carknard -Valley Falls - Rensselaer County Vincent S. Carknard of Valley Falls passed away at Samaritan Hospital on June 28, 2014 after a brief illness. He was 88. A lifelong resident of Valley falls, he was born on April 27, 1926 to the late Chester and Eva Carr Carknard. In 1932 he married the late Alice E. Groves who passed away in 2007. A veteran of the US Army serving from 1946-1947. For forty years Vincent was a machinist for the Stephen Bader Company of Valley Falls, retiring in 1988. Survivors include a son, Gregory L. (Sue) Carknard of Valley Falls, two daughters, Vinette A. (Richard) Seidler of St. Louis, MO and Eva M. (Vincent) Gregorek of Easton, his daughter-in-law Pauline Carknard of Buskirk, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter. In addition to his wife Alice and his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Vincent B. Carknard. Burial will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery (200 Duell Road, Schuylerville) on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10am with military honors.
