Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County Victor A. Grogan of Hayes Road passed away on March 21, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy with his family at his side. He was 80. Born March 23, 1933 at the family home on Carey Avenue in Hoosick Falls, son of the late Arthur and Ethel (Jones) Grogan. He is the husband of Hope (Beecroft) Grogan whom he married September 13, 1953. He attended a one room school house in Potter Hill and graduated from the Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, class of 1951. He played the trombone in the high school band and sang in the chorus. He enlisted in the U.S. Air force in 1952 during the Korean War, serving in the 75th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and the 519th Air Defense group as a Staff Sergeant. He received a Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Medal. He was discharged in 1956 and discharged from the Air Force Reserve in 1960. His working life was spent driving tractor trailers, mainly gasoline tankers for Hess and Shell Oil Company and he retired from Apex Oil Company as a Deep Water Terminal Operator. He was a communicant of the Presbyterian United Church in Schaghticoke and a member of Teamster Locals 232 and 294. In addition to his wife Hope, he is survived by their children Faith Grogan and husband Peter Grothe of Gansevoort, Timothy and wife Shelly Grogan of Greenwich, Glenn and wife Judy Grogan of Greenwich and Daniel and wife Christine Grogan of Shushan. His sisters, Jean Thompson of Hoosick Falls and Marie and husband Donald Babcock of North Petersburg, his grandchildren Jamie (Dan) Finn, Kara (Dean) Loy, Katelyn Grogan and Jacob Grogan and one great granddaughter Hailey Finn as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family, with burial in Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors.
