Victor R. "Vic" Post, Jr., of School Street passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with loving family at his side. He was 84.
Born in Rhinebeck on January 7, 1940, son of the late Victor and Frances (Bradley) Post, Sr. He is the husband of the late Anna May Post who passed away in 2014.
Vic served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1959. He retired from the New York State Office of General Services. He was a member of the Red Knights NY Chapter LIII, the Hoosic Valley Fire Department, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Hoosic Valley Community Church and a former EMS Coordinator. Known and loved by many in the community, Vic's welcoming personality will be dearly missed at Chrissy's Cravings where he could be found just about every day helping clear tables, greeting the public, or having dessert as well as being a familiar face welcoming people on services at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes. He loved being active in his community, riding his Slingshot and spending time with beloved family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Carol A. Post of Schaghticoke, Joyel F. (Bill) Jesmain of Melrose and Robert W. Post of Indiana, his siblings, Diane (Gary) Allyn of Florida and Joanne (Tom) Florence of Rhinebeck. His grandchildren, Randal Batcher, Matthew Batcher, Eric Post, Mariah Post Murray, Ashley (Wes) Culver, Brianna Carey, several nieces, nephews, great grandchildren as well as Vickie Tilley, Ken (Linda) Groat and their families.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Anna, he is predeceased by his sisters Joyce Wager and Judy Closs.
Calling hours will be from 10:00am-12 noon on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 Route 40, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be held in the Church at noon with burial in the Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors. Everyone is invited to a gathering at the church following the service at the cemetery for food and fellowship.
