Obituary

Thomas F. Murphy passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, October 17, 2010 he was 86 years old. Born on June 20, 1924 in Mechanicville to the late John and Josephine Powers Murphy. Husband of Norine Murphy whom he married on January 5, 1952. A member of Assumption-St. Paul church and the W.B. Nelson Fire Company Number 4 of the Mechanicville Fire Department. Tom was employed for the NYS DOT in Waterford for 38 years where he was a Derrick Boat Captain until he retired after 38 years of service. Survivors in addition to his wife include his five children: Ellen and George Froehlich of Loundonville, Cathleen and David Guilder of Clifton Park, Karen Finigan of Clifton Park, Patti and Glenn Gajewski of Mechanicville and Thomas J. and Tracy Murphy of Halfmoon. Ten Grandchildren: Sarah Oliver, Jeffery and Lindsey Knapp, Kelli and Casey McCadden, Megan and Craig Finigan, Nicole, Matthew and Erynn Murphy. Also survived by his Brother John D. Murphy of Florida, his Sister Joan and Emerson Boucher of Mechanicville as well as several Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents Tom was predeceased by his brother Joseph (Skip) Murphy and his sister Helen Leonard. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 20th at the Dunn Funeral Home, 319 Park Avenue in Mechanicville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 21th at 9:00 AM from Assumption -St. Paul Church, North Main Street in Mechanicville with Father David Mickiewicz, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Pauls Cemetery in Mechanicville.
