Rasmussen - Troy Steven Rasmussen of New Turnpike Road, passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, August 12, 2012, at Samaritan Hospital following an emergency surgery on Friday. His loving family was at his side. He was 47. Born in Troy on April 9, 1965, he is a son of Mr. Paul C. and the late Christy (Petersen) Rasmussen. On September 23, 2000, he married his love and lifes companion, Victoria Speciale, in Fairport. Mr. Rasmussen is a graduate of Hoosic Valley Central Schools, went on to obtain an AS in Engineering Science from SUNY Delhi in 1985, a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Union College in 1988, and he recently obtained his Professional Engineering license conferred by NYS on June 20, 2012. Steve was employed by NYS Office of General Services as an assistant engineer since 2005. He had been employed in the previous nine years as a project engineer for Bruce B. Clark P.E., out of Gouveneur, NY. Throughout his career, he worked in various locations on many construction projects. A member of the Round Mountain Fish and Game, he also had a passion for martial arts, home improvement, woodworking, and gardening. A loving husband, father and devoted family man, he is and will be greatly missed. Survivors in addition to his father, Paul, and wife, Victoria, include their daughter Christiana E. Rasmussen, his brother, James C. Rasmussen of Schaghticoke and his sister, Amy Rasmussen of Daytona, FL., also his aunts and uncles, Alan and Joan Rasmussen and their children Alan (Karen) Rasmussen and Lynn ("Larry") Pfitz and James and Nancy Petersen and their son Jeffrey Petersen. Relatives and friends may call from 5-8:00pm on Friday, August 17 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am on Saturday at the Presbyterian United Church, 165 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Burial will be private in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
