Mechanicville, Saratoga County Stephen J. Krauss formerly of Vosburgh Road passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. He was 95. Born in Cohoes on January 18, 1921, son of the late John G. and Ella (Acenbrack) Krauss. He grew up in Lansingburgh and graduated from Lansingburgh High School. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp during World War II flying in a B24 over Europe. He graduated from Cobleskill Ag and Tech. Later he moved his family to the farm on Vosburgh Road, where he achieved his dream of owning and operating a farm. In 1983 he retired from GE Silicones in Waterford and resided at the Midrise Apartments of Mechanicville for ten years. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Casey) Krauss to whom he was married for 71 years. He was the loving father of Linda (Bruce) Thomas of Greenfield Center, David (Sheila) Krauss of Delmar, Marjorie (David) Harvey of Gilmer, TX and Carol (Harry) Wood of Mechanicville. Proud grandfather of Kimberly Thomas, Adam Thomas, Abbey DeBenedetti, Brianna Wood, Ashley Wood, Lisa Brown and Joanne Pinheiro as well as eight great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Earring and Helen Motler and granddaughter, Angela Krauss. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 12 noon at All Saints on the Hudson, South Church. Burial with military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
