Times Union and Saratogian for Tuesday 11/29/2011 Schuylerville Sharon L. Baker of Route 32 passed away at her residence on Monday, November 28, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 57. Born in Fairhaven, VT on February 9, 1954, daughter of Paul Ridgeway and Betty (Walker) Rood. She is the wife of Joseph D. Baker, whom she married September 1, 1973. Sharon was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. Survivors in addition to her husband and mother include her grandmother, Grace Greene of Schuylerville, her siblings, Jeanne Rood Steele of Malta, Deborah Rood Brown of Mechanicville, Janice Rood, Alaine Rood Wood and Walter Rood, Jr., all of Stillwater. Also survived by her uncle Ralph Walker of Fairhaven, VT and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Jason P. Baker and her sister Lauren Rood Alderman. Relatives and friends may call from 10am-1pm on Wednesday, November 30 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Ave., Mechanicville. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 at the funeral home with Deacon Greg Mansfield, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Pauls Cemetery, Mechanicville.
