Hill - Schaghticoke - Rensselaer County Ruth Evelyn (Simon) Hill of NY Route 67 in Schaghticoke passed away on Thursday morning, August 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old. Born on August 14, 1924 in Melrose, daughter of the late Harold E. and Marion Francis (Howard) Simon. Wife of the late Benjamin Julius Hill, Jr. who passed away in 1962. Ruth was an Executive Secretary for Questar (Boces) in East Greenbush, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the O.E.S. and the United Methodist Church of Valley Falls/Melrose. She enjoyed being a backyard bird watcher and was especially devoted to her family. Ruth was a dedicated farm wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Survivors include her daughters; Betsy Jane Hill of Catskill, Susan A. Hill (Bruce Neddo) of Schaghticoke, and Laura M. Hill (Terry P. Hill) of Johnsonville. Grandchildren; Mark L. Hill of Schaghticoke, Elizabeth S. Hill of Johnsonville, Laura White-Rivers (Shawn Rivers) of Castleton, Daniel J. White of Latham, Bethany L. White of Castleton and Andrea C. Hill (Greg Popp) of Saranac Lake. As well as her great-grandchildren; Maya Rivers, Shelby Rivers, Rory Popp and Ada Popp. In addition to her parents and husband Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Hill White and her son Benjamin Julius Hill, III. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 21 at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, 16 State St., Valley Falls, NY 12185.
