Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Czajkowski, 74, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2020 after a short illness. Ron was born to the late John and Genevieve (Bochenek) Czajkowski, on May 24, 1945. He graduated from Mechanicville High School and worked for the Town of Halfmoon Highway Department for a brief period. In 1966 he accepted a position at GE Silicones in Waterford, where he would work for the next 38 years until he retired on disability in 2004. Ron was a charter member of the Hillcrest Fire Department in Halfmoon and a communicant of All Saints on the Hudson Church, where he attended daily mass. Ron married his devoted wife, Bernadette Marra, on May 20, 1967. They built their home on Rons family farmland where they would raise their family and spend their lives. In 2004 Ron was stricken with a heart attack and would receive the ultimate gift from above, with the help of a selfless donor- a heart transplant! This blessed his family and friends with 15 "heart birthdays"! Ron was the ultimate jokester. Anyone that knew him, knew he was quick witted. His humor will be missed by most! He always put his family first and he enjoyed traveling, horses, wildlife, farming, John Deere tractors, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bernadette; his two children: Ronald and Joanne Czajkowski of Mechanicville, Jennifer and Andre Burton of Mechanicville, his grandchildren Lillian Czajkowski, Brooke and Andrew Burton, and Kyle (Priscilla) Czajkowski; his great grandsons Cameron and Lucas, his brother Douglas (Nesha) Czajkowski of Colorado, and his sisters Dianne (the late John Sr.) Pingelski of Mechanicville, Sandra (John) Czajkowski-Armstrong of Ballston Spa, Deborah (Abraham) Arancibia of Florida, and Pamela Nestleroad of Mechanicville, lifelong friend Tom McBride, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and neighbors. Ron is preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank the Hillcrest Fire Department First Responders and Dr. Gregory Bishop of St. Peters Hospital, who saved Rons life after his heart attack. Also, the beloved staff at Massachusetts General Hospital where he received his heart transplant and always received excellent care. Additional thanks to his longtime doctor and friend Dr. James Craig, who provided exemplary care throughout. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday (January 18th) at 12 PM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, (St. Pauls) 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in St. Pauls Cemetery. Calling hours at the church 9-12. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Rons name to the Mechanicville Community Center or the Hillcrest Fire Department, in loving memory of Ronald Czajkowski.
