Obituary

Dr. Robert D. O'Brien, D.C., Ph.C.,of Beltrone L.C. and formerly of Clifton Park passed away on Monday, August 2nd at St. Peters Hospice Inn surrounded by his loving family. He was 84. Born at home on August 11,1925 to the late Daniel and Sara Madigan O'Brien. He was raised and educated in the Bronx. He entered the Army Air Corp, within two years he had 36 combat missions as a B 29 Radar Operator in the China-Burma-India Theater and from Tinian Island in the Western Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, four Air Medals, the Asiatic Pacific medal with silver star and others awards. Unfortunately within this early time period his only brother, James OBrien was a victim of the war. On his return home he graduated from Manhattan College, he met and married Barbara McNamara his love, companion, and supporter for 56 years. Dr. O'Brien served the Clifton Park community for 35 of his 50 year chiropractic career before retiring to Beltrone L.C. in Colonie. He was a charter member of the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard, and several veterans organizations including : VFW 1498, DAV, CBI, Hump Pilots and others. He was also a member of St. Edwards K of C. In addition to his wife Barbara he is survived by his children; Maura O'Brien, Monica (Charles) Paddock, Margaret (Michael) Walsh, Kathleen (David) Triller and James (Jacquelyn) O'Brien. His sister; Margaret (Paul) Krachenfels and eleven grandchildren; Daniel and Michael Triller, Colleen Paddock, Caitlin Walsh, Leslie Paddock, Meghan and Sean Walsh, Ryan Triller, Fiona, Ryley and Noah OBrien. In addition to his parents and brother, Robert was predeceased by his sister Kathleen and his Granddaughter, Lauren Walsh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park with Father Pat Butler, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:00 am at the Church. Burial will be at 1:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to thank the Veteran Administration Care, Dr. Flesh and Dr. Brill, the staff at Beltrone L.C., as well as Erin and Gail from St Peter's Hospice Care.
