Murphy - Saratoga County Robert G. "Murph" Murphy of Second Avenue, Mechanicville, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at his residence. Born in Brooklyn on April 18, 1931, to the late George Murphy and Agnes (Kennedy) Murphy. He is the husband of Joan C. (Pitman) Murphy who he married on September 4, 1960. Robert was employed at GE Silicones in Waterford retiring after 37 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was a former parishioner at St. Paul's in Mechanicville. Robert loved sports and especially horse racing. Survivors in addition to his wife, Joan, include his three children, Susan (Mark) Tibbitts of Niverville, Robert J. (Marie) Murphy of Covington, GA and Linda (Chuck) Guzielek of Mechanicville. Robert also leaves behind six grandchildren; Robert Lindsay, Chasity Seymour, Jaimee Rehm, Ashly, Joe and Max Clancy as well as three great-grand children. Robert is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Murphy. Family and friends may call from 4-7pm on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral service will be held at 9:30am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
