Rita Baker passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Saratoga Center in Ballston Spa. She was 93.
Born in St. Aubins, Vermont on April 28, 1922, daughter of the late Clifford and Mabel Sabin. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Earl Baker and her sister Pauline S. Hinchey, brother in laws Edward F. Hinchey and Robert Baker.
As a child, she and her family moved to Mechanicville. Rita graduated from Mechanicville High School and Mildred Elley School. She worked for the NYS Education Department for over 20 years. She later worked for the NYS Department of Correction. Returning to work in Mechanicville, Rita was employed by Lynd Brousseau Insurance for many years.
After retirement, Rita moved to Stillwater. She loved all animals, especially her poodles which she trained and entered in many dog shows around the state and surrounding areas, winning many blue ribbons. Some of her many friends, with their dogs joined her, making fun and exciting times for all. Rita was a kind, loving and fun person to be around. Rita was an avid NY Yankees Fan and she cherished her Yorkie, Kaitlyn. She spent many happy years with her beloved companion William Wheelock. She is survived by her sister in law Grace Baker and her niece Alice Nash (Darrin) and she will be especially missed by her friends Stephanie Hebert, Kathryn Powers, Patricia Russom, Bert Mang as well as many others.
