Richard E. Lyons, passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was 96 years old.

Born on November 16, 1927 in Archdale, NY to the late Forrest and Grace (Brownell) Lyons. Richard was the loving husband of the late Mary H. Lyons who passed away in 2015. They were married on November 14, 1948 in Greenwich, NY.

A veteran of the US Navy serving from 1945-1947. Richard was employed by the A&P Grocery stores where he was the meat supervisor. He was a fantastic pitcher right out of high school and went on to play professionally for the then New York Giants, he followed sports his entire life. He was a Free Mason of Schaghticoke and was very active in the Melrose United Methodist Church, serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board and other various positions.

Survivors include his two loving children, Bette Ann (Jim) Thompson of Mechanicville and Rick (Peggy) Lyons of Granville. Cherished grandchildren, Lindsay (James), Joshua (Emily), Chelsea (Walter) and Kimberly (Kyle). Two step grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) and Stefanie (Greg), as well as seven great grandchildren. His brother Robert (Ann) Lyons of Archdale, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.

All services will be private. If you would like to consider in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in his honor may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in loving memory of Richard E. Lyons.
