Richard Campbell, 88, of Schaghticoke passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024. Dick was born in Troy and the son of the late George and Emma (Christopher) Campbell. He joined the Air Force and started boot camp one day after the Korean War ended. While in the USAF, he worked as an electrical troubleshooter on aircraft. After returning home, he spent most of his adult life working as a union laborer for various contractors, known for being an extremely hard worker. After his retirement from construction, he finished his working career as a custodian at Hoosic Valley Elementary School, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Dick married the love of his life, Patricia Adams in 1958 and they spent almost 63 years together before her passing of Alzheimer's in 2021. Dick was her caregiver, taking over all of the household duties and treating her with a loving tenderness that showed how deeply they cared for one another. Dick had many interests and excelled at each and every one of them, whether it be working on extremely hard jigsaw puzzles or cryptograms, golfing (he was a left-hander) or trying his luck at the Racino. Dick was an avid Yankee and Giants fan and enjoyed watching golf on tv as much as he enjoyed playing it. Sadly, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Pat, his parents and siblings George, Michael, Robert and Marilyn Powers and son-in-law Jerry Seror. He is survived by his children, Michael (Kathryn), John (Sachin), Linda Seror, Kathleen (Andy) Narzynski and Richelle (Pete) Darrow; grandchildren Kristen (Keith), David (Megan), Jeni (Joe), Jamie (Josh), Heidi (Chris), Teresa (Patrick), Kayla (Brandon), RJ (Kate), Michael (Michelle) and Brittany (Cole), Abbi, Emi, Dylan, Nico, Tyler, 20 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandson; his siblings Albert, Emma Hoag, Florence DeMers and Harriet (Larry ) Charette and sister-in-law Rosemary Campbell. Services will be held at Chase Funeral Home in Schaghticoke on Tuesday, February 20th from 10:30am-12:30pm and are private for family, extended family and close friends. Burial will be private at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY on the same day. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in the memory of his beloved wife Pat, to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Hospital and Evergreen Commons for all of their kindness and support.
