Troy, Rensselaer County Rainy Chapko of Troy, passed away on March 28, 2022, surrounded by family at Samaritan Hospital. He was 78. Born on May 10, 1943 in Cohoes NY, son of the late Alex and Janet (St.Gelais) Chapko. Rainy was a devoted and loving husband of 37 years to his Baby Doll Stephanie (Hoag) Maloney. Rainy served in the Army for 20 years, before his honorable discharge. Following serving in the Army, he went on to work as a Mail Handler for General Mail Facility in Albany where he retired after 21 years. In his free time, Rainy enjoyed dancing, playing horseshoes and cribbage, and taking trips with Stephanie to Atlantic City. He was also an avid Yankees fan. Survivors, along with his Baby Doll Stephanie, include his children Diona Chapko, Brenda (George) Chapko, Dennis Chapko, and J.D. (Carolyn) Maloney, his grandchildren Cassondra Chapko, Camille Coyne, Maple Maloney, and Dallas Maloney. As well as his siblings Darl (late Joan) Chapko, Larny (Lori) Chapko, Tian (Bob) Chorwat, and Alton (Tracie) Chapko, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 4:00 pm 6:00 pm at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke NY. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 pm, following the service.
