Melrose, Rensselaer County Phyllis J. Weeden-Smith, formerly of Mineral Springs Road passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She was 87. Born in Troy on June 27, 1931, daughter of Zora and Martha Weeden. She is the widow of Gordon Smith. Phyllis worked as a seamstress during her career. She enjoyed wildlife, gardening and tending to her large strawberry crops on her family farm. Survivors include her son, Rupert (Lynn) Smith of Melrose, a daughter Charlotte (Don) Spain of Troy, grandchildren Kayla Smith, Chelsea Smith, Joshua Smith all of Melrose, Brittany Smith of Cohoes as well as several other family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sons, Darryl and Barth Smith. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 4-6:00pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke.
