Peter A. Carcaterra III, 76, formerly of Yonkers and Bronx NY, and most recently of Clifton Park NY, died on June 9, 2020. Pete fought a long, hard battle with cancer that ultimately proved to be to overpowering. Pete was born on July 27, 1943 to the late Peter and Winifred (Farnan) Carcaterra in the Bronx NY. Pete was the second of their 4 children and is predeceased by his younger sister Jean Kunze and his younger brother Frank Carcaterra. Pete was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Yonkers and attended St. Johns University in Queens. Pete enlisted in the United States Navy, fought in the Vietnam War, and was subsequently honorably discharged. After the military Pete worked for New York Telephone Company, Loral Electronics, Lockheed Martin, and ultimately he retired from BAE Systems as a subcontracts administrator. Pete traveled a lot while working, and was a member of the Million Miler Club with American Airlines. He spent most of his time, while working, in California, Florida, and New York. Pete loved fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He was an avid sports fan and a horse racing enthusiast. He was known to spend some quality time on the golf course, or in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, with friends and family. He was also known as a wonderful story teller and one who told jokes with comedic-like delivery. Quietly, Pete enjoyed building model airplanes. Pete is survived by his wife Linda Carcaterra of Eastchester NY. Although separated for many years both Peter and Linda remained dear friends. Linda was with Peter at his residence caring for him the last few weeks of his life until his passing. He is survived by his son, and only child, Peter A. Carcaterra IV and his wife Jillian Carcaterra, and their son, Petes beloved grandson Luca Peter Carcaterra. He is survived by his older sister Winifred Frank and her husband Anthony Frank. Furthermore Pete is survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren, all of whom he adored deeply. Pete is also survived by all of his close friends, and his dear friend Joe Shipps son Steve Shipp, who was of great assistance to Pete the last few months of his life. Pete will be remembered by all as a handsome, loving, compassionate, charismatic, willing to give the shirt off his back for a friend or family member, type of guy...or as his son Peter will always remember him "a true gentleman among gentlemen". Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, services for Pete will be announced at a later date and will more than likely be celebrated somewhere in lower Westchester County NY.
