Pearl L. Betts, formerly of Valley Falls, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Argyle. She was 94. Born in Easton on November 24, 1917, daughter of the late Oscar and Margaret (MacAuley) Borden. Mrs. Betts attended the Troy Business School and was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Hoosic Valley Central School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Palestine) in Troy, NYS Grange and Hoosick Grange #1127 member, and a member of the Womens Club of Valley Falls. She was also a parishioner of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, John (Joan) Betts of Valley Falls, William (Elna) Betts of Owego, Diane (Miguel) Cabral of Niskayuna and Martha (Donald) Babbitt of Valley Falls, her brother Leonard Borden of Easton, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Betts is reunited with her husband, Nelson B. Betts, Jr. and her brothers, Elton Borden and Rev. James Borden. Graveside services will beat 2:30pm on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke with Rev. Clyde McCaskill officiating.
