STILLWATER - Paul W. Sheehan Jr., 88, passed peacefully on February 25, 2015 at Wesley Health Care Center. Born June 10, 1926 in Stillwater, NY to Paul Sr. and Helen (Strubel) Sheehan. Retired from the B&M Railroad he was a family man and an avid camper. He was also a dedicated member of American Legion Post 490. He recently returned to the area after residing in Bradenton, FL for several years. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and Irish ditties. Paul was a proud WWII Navy veteran who served on the Battleship USS Arkansas. Four days after D-Day, while involved in the invasion of Normandy, Paul turned 18. Months later his ship supported an invasion of Southern France. The Arkie then participated in the battles at Iwo Jimo and at Okinawa. Predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Joan Mohan, brothers James (Patricia), John and sister Margaret (Arch) DeMarco. Survived by his four children, Joanne (Tim) Boucher of Bradenton, FL, Timothy (Patricia) Sheehan, John (Beth) Sheehan and Colleen (Howie) Condon all of Stillwater. Grandchildren Michael (Tara), Paul (Pam), Shawn (Tyanne), Matthew (Dorothy), Erica (Keith) Trahan, Jonathan (Angela), Bridget (Michael) Ciulla, Timothy Boucher, 12 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Lorraine Sheehan, several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 4-7:00pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 12noon at All Saints on the Hudson Church, Hudson Ave., Stillwater with burial to follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon- Saratoga National Cemetery.
