Nina Long, 92, died Sunday, June 12 at home. She was born May 10, 1930 in Albany, NY. She graduated from Cathedral Academy in Albany with the class of 1948 and immediately went to work at New York Telephone Company where she met her first husband Arthur Goedeke. The story is told that she picked him up at the annual Christmas party. Nina and Art were married for 49 years and had a son and a daughter. Art died in 1999 and in 2003 Nina met her second husband Elton Long at church. Their first date was on Valentines Day and they were married August of that year. As Nina and Elton put it "At our age, we dont have time to waste." Nina and Elton enjoyed 15 carefree years together before Elton died in 2018. Nina often said "It is not everyone that is lucky enough to marry two such good men." Nina was passionate about her sewing, her quilting and her knitting and she passed these skills on to many others through the years. Many of us are blessed to have pieces of her work in our homes.
Nina is survived by her son, Arthur Goedeke and his wife, Debby of Delmar; her daughter, Anne Crandall and her husband, David of Stillwater; a granddaughter Marcy Reposa, her husband Austin and great-grandchildren Paxton and Meridian of Saugerties; a grandson, Matthew Goedeke, his wife Danielle and great-grandchildren Ryder, Nico and Reagan of Delmar; a sister, Rose Marie Young of North Carolina; a brother, Joseph Caruso and his wife Lisa Frisch of New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Goedeke of Kansas; and also survived by many nieces, nephews and a cousin. Nina was sadly predeceased by her great-granddaughter Reese and her brother Carmen Caruso.
