Halfmoon, Saratoga County Michael F. Tompkins of Halfmoon passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was 70. Born in Astoria, Queens on September 19, 1950, son of the late George and Carmela (Gasparri) Tompkins. He is the husband of Connie (Mazzella) Tompkins. Michael worked as a detective and retired from the NYPD in 1994. He later worked at Siena College for approximately 15 years. He was an avid gun and tool collector. Legend has it that Harbor Freight opened locally in part due to his campaigns for their arrival. Survivors in addition to his wife Connie whom he married on May 10, 1975 include their daughters, Samantha (Dave) Santy of Mechanicville and Jillian Tompkins of Troy, his sister, Angela Scaldaferri of Oyster Bay and grandson Johnathan Santy. He is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Tompkins. Services for Mr. Tompkins will be private and at the convenience of his family.
