Michael E. Garland of Ferris Street passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. He was 87.
He was born on April 7, 1933, son of Arthur and Helen (Commons) Garland. He is the husband of the former Joan M. Burke.
Pops as he was well known, served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked in many positions with the B&M Railroad until his retirement. He was a past commander and member of the American Legion Post 1644 and a past member of the Elks. In earlier years he enjoyed fishing and was active with the Boy Scouts Troop #34, but his true passion was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Joan M. Garland include their children Art Garland, Patricia and husband James Marzinsky and Michael Garland, a brother Richard Garland, his adoring grandchildren, Amber and husband Dale Trojan, Alyssa and husband John Bennett, Josh and wife Ashlee Garland and Devon LeClair as well as his great grandchildren Kaiden Fifield and Henry and Alice Trojan.
He is predeceased by his siblings Loretta Scott, Jane Talmadge, MaryEllen Cefferillo and Earl Garland.
Services for Pops will be private and at the convenience of his family with burial with military honors in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
