Matthew Michael Wood of Harris Avenue passed away suddenly at home on Friday, March 20, 2026. He was 36 years old.

Born in Niskayuna on May 14, 1989, son of Anthony Wood Sr. and Kim (Haney) Dennis.

Matt worked as a carpenter and was very hands-on. He could build just about anything. He enjoyed working on cars and would be the first to lend a hand to whoever needed it. He was always willing to help.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his children, Matthew and Melanie Wood, his siblings, Christopher (Lisa) Wood, Anthony Wood and fiancé Kayla Jones, Jamie (LeAndra) Wood and Alexis Dennis. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be from 12 noon – 3pm on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Ave., Stillwater . A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 3pm with a gathering to follow at the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge in Mechanicville.
