Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce, Matthew Marvin Meher, 36, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2021, at his home in Indian Lake, N.Y. A cherished son, Matthew was born in Gloversville, N.Y. on July 23, 1984, to John Meher, Sr., and the late Tamara Lamb. He was the fourth eldest of nine siblings, and as a child, Matthew was an adventurous and outdoorsy boy who loved to get dirty and greasy, build forts, fish, and go camping. Regardless of his childhood struggles, Matthew was always optimistic and smiling. He was a kind and sensitive boy who was the family prankster and rebel, with the occasional "Matt the Brat" moments. Without fail, he always had a box of torn apart toys and electronics stashed somewhere, tinkering and reengineering something new from them. He loved sports and collecting sports cards, was a huge Raiders fan and loved Refrigerator Perry. As he got older, he found his passion in hobbies such as the Demolition Derby, Nascar, decking out and wrenching on his big boy toys and Chevy trucks. He loved to work hard and play hard! A fishing rod and keys to a Chevy truck were never far from his hand. Matthew was incredibly talented for he was known as the familys Mr. Fix-it. He loved music, beat boxing, dancing, playing guitar and certainty loved the sound of his own voice, especially when saying many of his one liners such as "Ya See It?" It was not entirely because of his signature fashion statement, always wearing cargo shorts, work boots and a short sleeve button up shirt at any time of the year despite the weather, but because of his loving spirit, hilarious sense of humor, charming and charismatic personality, and infectious laugh, that everyone gravitated towards him, especially the ladies. This earned Matthew the title as Life of the Party, along with several nicknames such as Pimp, Doll, Smoke-a-Lot and Sambo. He loved hosting big family gatherings, having large bonfires, and would indulge you with his famous calzone recipes. He was always up to the challenge to build the biggest and best snowman, and sleigh riding with the kids. With his big kid heart and sense of fun, he will forever remain to those who loved him dearly, one of their most favorite persons of all time. Undoubtedly, his passing has left a void that will never be replaced. Matthew was a devoted father, leaving behind two children, a cherished daughter; Sarianna Meher (Pretty Pretty Princess), a beloved son; Matthew Meher, Jr. (Bubba Doo), and three stepchildren; Gregory Gill, Zachary Starcher and Sebastian Starcher, two grandchildren; Carter and Grayson Gill, and his partner for over 17 years, Jennelle Simpson. In addition, he is survived by his father; John Meher, Sr., siblings; Jeremy Edwards, Gretchen Edwards, John Meher, Jr., Benjamin Meher, Jane (Olyer) De La Rosa, Bridget (Olyer) Kingsley, Stephen Garney, Daisy (Garney) Nick, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother; Tamara Lamb, grandparents; Marvin and Betty Lou Meher, Patricia Reed, and a beautiful niece; Ivi Anne Edwards.
