On June 29, 2023 Mary Agnes (Scott) Whitney passed away peacefully in Belleview, Florida surrounded by family. She was 84 years old. Mary was born on October 14, 1938 in Cohoes, New York. Prior to retiring from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute she raised her family and provided foster and respite care for New York State. Mary loved knitting and camping with friends as well as taking trips to the casino with family and friends. Mary is survived by her children, Charles "Billy/Chuck" (Deanna) Whitney, Deborah (William) Simard, and Thomas "Buddy" Whitney; her brother, Charles Scott; her sisters in law, Tootie Monticup and Sally Whitney; fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Whitney; her parents, Thomas and Anna (Tracey) Scott; her daughter, Catherine (Whitney) McBride and foster son, Daniel Bouchey; her sister, Margaret Champine, and best friend, Barbara Whitney. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6:30 pm on Monday, August 28 at the Chase Smith Family Funeral Home at 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke, NY. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm with Pastor Clyde McCaskill. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
