Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County Mary Jane Ryan of Hansen Road passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home. She was 70. Born on January 21, 1951, daughter of Bernard and Loretto (Guile) Geren. She is the wife of the late Michael R. Ryan Sr., who passed away in 2000. Mary worked for St. Marys Hospital as a nurses aid in the 1970s and in the 1980s she worked as a social worker and home aid for Rensselaer County. To be closer to her mother-in-law and care for her, she started working for Hoosic Valley CSD as a bus driver. She was a parishioner of Transfiguration Parish in Schaghticoke. Survivors include her sons, Michael R. Ryan, Jr. and Thomas John (Rebeccah) Ryan and their children Kaylynn and Ava, her siblings, Bernie (late Mary Lou) Geren, Helen (late Wayne) Akin, Peggy (Carlo) Streton, Frank (Lisa) Geren, Patty (Steve) Wanko, Thomas (Joanne) Geren, Ann (James) St. Gelais, Robert (Marcia) Geren, a brother-in-law Thomas (Linda) Dygert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sister Rita Dygert. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday at Transfiguration Parish, Schaghticoke with burial to follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
