Schenectady - Mary Jane Haldeman, formerly of the Mid Rise in Mechanicville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.
Born on June 27, 1919 in Rensselaer, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Fett) White.
Mary Jane was employed by the City of Mechanicville as Activities Coordinator for the Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and belonged to the Mid Rise Tenants Association in Mechanicville.
Survivors include her children, Jerry and wife Tina Haldeman of Scotia, Richard and wife Pam Haldeman of Malta and JoAnn and husband Karl Anderson of Stillwater, her brother Richard White of Nassau, seven grandchildren, Kassie, Braden, Bryan, Alyssa and Jessica Haldeman, Eric Anderson and Rene Wilday as well as five great grandchildren, Sarah, Lacey and Rebecca Dubois, and Elalina Jo & Michael Haldeman.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers James White and Robert White, her sisters Dorothy Burdet, June Brown, Marion White and Jacqueline White.
Mary Jane loved attending Church, where she volunteered in the nursery. She enjoyed painting and writing poetry, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends may call from 5-7pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Dunn Funeral Homes, Inc., 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 13 at the Temple Baptist Church (Lower Newtown Road) with Pastor Duke Hergatt, officiating. Burial will follow in Hudson View Cemetery (South Street).
