Lucille V. (Viger) Singleton, formerly of 15th Street, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Eddy Memorial Nursing Home. She was 94.
Born on June 27, 1922 in Troy, daughter of the late J. Arthur and Helena (Toomey) Viger. She is the widow of the late Benjamin Singleton who passed away in 1948. She was also predeceased by her brother, James T. Viger.
Lucille graduated from the College of St. Rose and Albany Law School. She was the only woman to graduate from her law school class of 1951. Her brother Jim was also in the same class. She went on to work as an attorney at the Watervliet Arsenal and retired from General Electric Company.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews; Michele (late Daniel) Chevalier of Mechanicville, Janine (Bill) Hoogeveen of Stillwater, James J. Viger of Waterford and Paul Viger of Green Island, great nieces and nephews Bridget (Josh) Hebert of Stillwater, Alison (John) Anderson of Clinton, MA, Nicole (Charles) Kovalsky of Stillwater, Benjamin Varieur of Schenectady and Nicole (Jay) Papielion of Clifton Park as well as several great great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Eddy Memorial Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Lucille.
Visiting will be from 9:00-10:00am on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue Mechanicville. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 in the funeral home with burial in St. Peters Cemetery, Troy.
