Obituary

Lois Popp formerly of Main Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy. She was 89.

Born on May 20, 1935 in New York, New York, she is the daughter of the late Kenneth B. and Verna A. (Ayers) Dixon. She is the widow of William Popp who preceded her in 2015.

Lois owned several of her own businesses. She taught ceramics classes, china painting classes and how to make porcelain dolls. She also owned and operated her own gift shop/candy store all of which were located in Schaghticoke. Later in life when her children were all grown, she went to work for Rensselaer County Social Services and Child Protection Services. She also worked part time as an accounting clerk for Agway in Schaghticoke.

Survivors include her son William (Melissa) Popp of Melrose, her son Thomas (Lisa) Popp of Johnsonville and her daughter Debra (Jimmy) Lucia of South Carolina. Grandchildren Greg Popp, Jessica Popp, Stephen Popp, Shannon Popp, Heather Bayly, Christina Popp, Scott Popp, Brent Popp and Edward Zuzick. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and her sister Eleanor Lare of Jeffersonville as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 10-11:30am on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be at 11:30 in the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
