Barbolt, Leo J. Stillwater, Saratoga County Leo J. Barbolt of Hudson Avenue passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 18, 2015 with his loving family at his side. He was 86. Born in Mechanicville on July 27, 1928, son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Kilmer) Barbolt. He is the husband of the former Dorothy A. Poraski whom he married on February 6, 1947. A Veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1945-1949 he was discharged honorably as a Boatsman Mate, 3rd Class. He worked at General Electric in Waterford retiring as a Lab Supervisor. In 1967 he was the assessor for the town of Stillwater serving a total of 12 years, 9 as chairman. He was a member of the American Legion Post 490 and was proud to be Grand Marshall of the Village of Stillwater Parade and attended several trips with the Patriot Flight to war memorials in Washington DC. He enjoyed traveling with Dorothy and also loved playing golf. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband and family man and his family adored him. Survivors in addition to his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy include their children, Sharon (Michael) Rich of Stillwater, Lisa (Emmet) Prosser of Clifton Park and Anita (Tad) Baisley of Stillwater, his siblings Al Barbolt, Marie (Kenneth) Baker, Beverly (William) Patenaude and Jane Hawthorne all of Stillwater. His grandchildren Jason (Miriam) Rich, Jeromy Rich, Brianna Rolston, Brandon Stanley, Ryan (Jenny) Baisley and Shawn Baisley as well as his great grandchildren, Madison and Skyler Rich, Kenna Marie Rolston and Callen Baisley. He is predeceased by a son, Michael Wayne Barbolt, sister in law Aundi Barbolt and brother in law Robert Hawthorne. Relatives and friends may call from 2-7pm on Tuesday, July 21 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday at the All Saints on the Hudson Church, Stillwater. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Stillwater.
