Joseph P. Cefferillo, Sr. of Route 423, Stillwater, passed away at the age of 80 after a brief illness on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Born on August 10, 1937 to the late Ernest and Domenica (Forte) Cefferillo, Sr., he attended Mechanicville Public Schools. He is the husband of the late Judith Cefferillo who passed away in 2010.
Joe was honorably discharged as a Sergeant from the US Army serving from 1955-1958. He worked for Star Woolen in Cohoes and the D&H Railroad in Mechanicville. He worked most of his life as a mason for Fortune Construction Company in Mechanicville and was a 52 year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, hard work ethic and his love of NASCAR.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Catlin (Larry Husfelt) of Wyoming and Bonnie (Gregg) Minick of Stillwater; two sons, Joseph (Irene) Cefferillo, Jr. of Florida and David (Karen) Cefferillo of Easton; brothers George Cefferillo and Ernie (Linda) Cefferillo, a brother-in-law Frank Everett and a sister in law Mary Ellen Cefferillo as well as seven grandchildren, David, Patrick, Michael, Annie, Stephanie and Joseph, III, six great-grandchildren, Leksis, Aiden, Jakob, Sophia, Grace and Patrick, Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe is predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Sullivan and Rose Marie Cefferillo, brother, John Cefferillo, sister-in-law, Lynda Cefferillo, brother-in-law, Thomas Sullivan, a grandson, Joseph Cefferillo and his beloved dog Khia.
He will be interred at the Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors on Friday, March 9, 2018. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
