Obituary

Joseph P. "Cappy" Capozzelli of School Street passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital. He was 79. Born on May 20, 1938 in Amsterdam, son of the late Peter and Jennie Capozzelli. He is the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Capozzelli whom he married September 2, 1961. A graduate of Watervliet High School class of 1956, he worked for the Troy Record as a printer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Waterford Council 237, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad and the Round Mountain Fish and Gun Club. Cappy enjoyed bocci, bowling, hunting and fishing, darts, golf, scrabble, poker, Las Vegas and was an avid NY Yankees fan and loved Frank Sinatra. Survivors in addition to his wife Betty include his children, Joseph Capozzelli, Jr. (Lorraine Robbins), and Robin (Rich) Salisbury, his sister Josephine (late Robert) Rivet, grandpa of Michael Capozzelli and Baha to Abbi Salisbury, great grandchildren Joleen and Joey Capozzelli as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 1:00-4:00pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will follow at 4:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad in memory of Joe Capozzelli.
