John F. Zink Sr. Stillwater, NY/Zephyrhills, FL - John F. Zink Sr., 71, of Stillwater died peacefully while in recovery from surgery in Land O Lakes, Florida on March 18, 2015. John was born August 31, 1943 in Troy, New York to John J. Zink and Justine Francese Zink. He was the oldest of six children. A graduate of La Salle Institute Class of 1961, he was employed at Williams Press in Menands, where he completed the apprentice program and worked as a pressman for many years. He made a career with Grand Union driving trucks until his retirement in 1995. John was a quiet and gentle man who lived for his wife and family. John was predeceased by his life long love and wife of 37 years Marcia Clow Zink. He and Marcia resided in Stillwater where they raised their two children in their home on North Hudson Avenue. John enjoyed his hard-earned retirement by spending the winter months at his residence in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he enjoyed his friends and family visitors, the warm weather, fishing, boating, and driving his antique car. He spent holidays and the summer months back in Stillwater, being, in every sense of the word, Grandpa. His grandkids were everything to him and they adored him equally. John's quiet presence and easy smile will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of his company and companionship. John is survived by his son John F. (Lisa) Zink Jr. of Chicago, IL, and his daughter Christine (Andrew) Patenaude of Stillwater. Seven grandchildren; Benjamin, Samantha, and Maise Zink, and Amanda, Joshua, Matthew, and Olivia Patenaude. John is also survived by his siblings Frank (Noreen) Zink, Thomas (Nora) Zink, Robert Zink, Tina (Tim) Haskins, Marianne (Patrick) Thornton and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 12noon to 3pm on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater.
