Mechanicville John F. Kniffen of North Second Avenue passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy following a long illness. He was 65. Born in Catskill, NY on September 27, 1958, son of the late Willis and Patricia (Moss) Kniffen. John was proud of his 31 year career in maintenance at NYRA in Saratoga Springs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #490, Stillwater and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1938, Valley Falls. He is a past member of the Cossayuna Fire Department. John enjoyed NASCAR, playing cards and was a collector of many different things. Survivors include his brothers, Michael (Janet) Kniffen and David (Sharon) Kniffen both of Greenwich and his brother in law Gordon DeLurey. He is predeceased by his sisters Sandy DeLurey and Debby McNair. Services for John will be private and at the convenience of his family.
