John William Harrison, Jr. of North Street passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at home with loving family at his side. He was 78.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, son of John and Katherine Harrison. He is the husband of Janet Lorraine (Ostrander) Harrison.

John was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1964-68 and 1974-76. He was honorably discharged and was a recipient of the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals. When in the navy he was also a Golden Glove Boxer. He worked most of his life in construction and loved conversation and giving advice, no matter the topic. He was a proud man and loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to his wife Janet include his children, Jacqueline (George) Hoffman, Katherine Harrison, James Harrison and John Harrison, his sister Suzanne Harrison Schecher and his brother Montgomery Maxted, 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his siblings Frances Moore, Lawrence Maxted and Andrew Harrison.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will follow at 1pm in the funeral home with inurnment to follow at 2:30pm in the Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors.
