John Hugh Edwards, formerly of Valley Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was 94. Born October 1, 1917 in Valley Falls, son of the late Charles Herbert and Ellen (Aspinall) Edwards, Sr. John attended Valley Falls High School. He was a farmer and partner at the family business, Coppice Farm in Valley Falls. John was a member of the Holstein Freisen Association, the Tri County Holstein Club and the Farm Bureau. Mr. Edwards is survived by his niece, Carol L. Edwards of Valley Falls, his sisters, Alice M. Edwards of Hoosick Falls and Dorothy A. Edwards of Johnsonville and his brother, Charles H. and wife Sophie Edwards, Jr. of Temecula, CA. He is also survived by many cousins. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his stepmother, Margaret M. (Metz) Edwards. Relatives and friends may call from 4-6:00pm on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street in Schaghticoke. A funeral service will be conducted at 6pm at the funeral home with Rev. Clyde McCaskill, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
