Philpott, Joan Ann Mechanicville, Saratoga County Joan Ann Philpott of South Second Street passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital. She was 76. Born in Troy on November 4, 1940, she was raised by her foster parents Floyd and Mabel Kipp. She is the wife of Leon Randolph Philpott whom she married in Valley Falls on September 9, 1961. Joan had recently held the office of treasurer for the Valley Falls Chester James Carknard VFW Post 1938 since 1996. She was an avid bowler, traveling to several state tournaments. Above all she was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors in addition to her husband Leon of Mechanicville include their children, Randy (Stacey) Philpott of Johnsonville, Linda (Martin) Garland of Mechanicville and AmyJo Philpott of Scotia, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Spoonoogle and a granddaughter, Brittany L. Philpott. Relatives and friends may call from 9-11am on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am in the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Hoosick Rural Cemetery. A celebration of Joan's life will be held following services at 3pm at the Mechanicville Elks Lodge #1403, 300 Park Avenue, Mechanicville.
