Mechanicville, Saratoga County Joan Garland passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Collar City Nursing and Rehab in Troy. She was 85. Joan was born in Troy on August 28, 1937, daughter of the late James P. and Johanna (Donohue) Burke. She is the widow of the late Michael Garland to who she was married to for 63 years before his death in 2021. She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School. Survivors include her children, Arthur Garland of Wynantskill, Patricia (James) Marzinsky of Mechanicville and Michael Garland of Mechanicville, her grandchildren Amber (Dale) Trojan of Rock City Falls, Alyssa (John) Bennett of Saratoga Springs, Joshua (Ashlee) Garland of Guilderland and Devon LeClaire of Mechanicville and her great grandchildren, Kaiden Fifield, Henry Trojan and Alice Trojan In addition to parents and husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, James Burke and William Burke. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 5-7:00pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00am on Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
