Jean M. Hughes of Hudson Avenue in Stillwater, passed away on April 13, 2011 at Albany Medical Center. She was 58. Born on September 3, 1952 in Troy, NY to William and the late Evelyn Marie (Jarvis) Moon, Sr. A 1971 graduate of Hoosic Valley Schools she also attended St. Margarets House and Hospital for Babies. Jean was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Transfiguration Parish in Schaghticoke where she was a Sunday School teacher and served as an Eucharistic Minister. She devoted her entire life advocating for mentally and physically handicapped people. She was an avid artist, drawer and painter. She was very loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors in addition to her father include her husband Michael F. Hughes, a daughter, Chelsea M. Hughes and fianc William Russell, Jr. of Stillwater, two sons William E. and Michael F. Hughes, Jr., both of Stillwater, one sister, Joann (Kenneth) MacDougall of Valley Falls and one brother William A. (Shelly) Moon Jr. of Schaghticoke, a brother-in-law, John J. Hughes, Jr. of Conway, SC, a cousin, Rebecca (George) Stefani of Clifton Park and her best friend Marian Dawson of Guilderland. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and a host of family friends. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main Street in Schaghticoke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday morning at the Transfiguration Parish, South Main Street in Schaghticoke.
