Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County Jean Guy Bedard of Hemstreet Road passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2015 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was 81. Born in Montreal, Quebec, on December 22, 1933, a son of the late Rene Emile and Mary Rose (Benoit) Bedard. He is the husband of Winnie Jean Tanner, whom he married on June 4, 1960. Guy owned and operated Frosty Refrigeration in Schaghticoke for over 50 years. He was a member of the Speigletown Fire Department, Hoosic Valley Fire Department and the Schaghticoke Fire Department and is a life member of the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad. An avid musician, he was also a member of the Adirondack Fiddlers. Survivors in addition to his wife of 54 years, Winnie Jean Bedard include their children, daughter Debra Barton (Bob Saur) of Valley Falls and daughter Linda Patka of NC, son William (Cheryl) Bedard of O'Brien, FL and son Thomas Bedard of Ocala, FL, grandchildren Thomas (Danielle) Bedard of Cohoes, Adam Bedard (Crystal Thomas) of Mechanicville, Krystal (Stephen) Hicks of Hyde Park, Kevin Morgan (Melinda VanBuskirk) of Schaghticoke, Melanie (Michael) DeLair of NC and Pamela Patka of NC, great grandchildren Anna Bedard, Alyssa Bedard, Joseph Beigler, Brandon Bedard, Derek DeLair, Mason Bedard, Kane Morgan, Connor Bedard, Emily Bedard, Dylan Bedard and Benjamin Hicks. Also survived by four brothers and three sisters, 34 nieces and nephews and his very special friend, Greg Strope of Stillwater. He is predeceased by one brother and one sister. Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be conducted at 10am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
