Stillwater, Saratoga County Janice Marie Rood of Royal Court passed away peacefully at Saratoga Hospital. She was 63. Born in Troy on December 18, 1958, daughter of Betty Rood and the late Walter Rood, Sr. Janice worked as manager at Staffield Printing (Pennysaver) and most recently the Yankee One Dollar. She met many friends over the years while working and enjoyed her jobs. She enjoyed shopping, especially if it involved finding a deal, flowers, tending to her yard and crafting. Above all she loved spending time with her family. Survivors in addition to her mother, Betty, include her daughter, Melissa (Richard) Wanko of Schaghticoke, her partner, Brian Buhl of Stillwater, her siblings, Jeanne (Wayne) Steele of Malta, Debbie (Jim) Brown of Mechanicville, Butchy Rood of Stillwater and Alaine Wood of Stillwater. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her father Walter, she is predeceased by her grandmother Grace Greene and her sisters, Sharon Baker and Lauren Alderman. Calling hours will be from 5-7:00pm on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 in the funeral home. A special thank you to the hospital staff and aides at Saratoga Hospital for the exceptional care of Janice.
