James H. Niland, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Saratoga Center for Skilled Nursing with his family at his side. He was 91. Born in Mechanicville on December 23, 1925, son of the late James and Anna (Carson) Niland. Husband of the late Thelma Osborn and the late Lois Friedel. James served in the Army from 1944-1946. He worked as a crane operator at Norlite Corp., of Cohoes. Survivors include his children, Patricia A. (James) Mitchell of Culpepper, VA, John J. (Gloria) Niland and Thomas J. (Tina) Niland both of Mechanicville, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and his good friend and caregiver, Colette Kegg. He is predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Bramski and Elizabeth Niland. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, March 3, 2017 at All Saints on the Hudson, North Church.
