J. Edmond Guay, Sr., passed away on December 17, 2024 at the age of 94 in Troy, NY. Born on November 16, 1930, son of R. Philibert Guay and Alice LaVallee Guay, both from Canada.

His early years were lived in Watervliet before moving to the Schaghticoke/Valley Falls area in approximately 1941. He was a graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School. Ed and a friend traveled the US before he chose a career in sales and made his home in Valley Falls.

He married Catherine Curtin of Waterford in 1957. Together they raised five children: Catherine, Daniel (Bonnie), Joseph Edmond, Jr., John (Lisa), and Gregory. He is survived by grandchildren Michael Canzeri, Jennifer (Michael) Seber, Nelson Guay, Kristopher Daurio, Mallory and Maria Guay, and great-grandchildren Natalie Canzeri Janisch, Brianna Seber, Aidan and Aliyah Paulo, Ava Aubin and Sophia Guay. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Both he and his wife were active members of the Catholic Church, Hilltop Bowling League and enjoyed several trips to Ireland in later years.

Predeceased by his parents, brother J. Albert Guay and his wife Catherine.

Ed was a resident of the Eddy facilities on Burdett Avenue in Troy for the past eight years. He leaves to mourn many kind and compassionate people who enjoyed his company and humor.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 11am-1pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A service will be held in the funeral home at 1pm with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
