Gloria Jean Mishler, 79, of Stillwater, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Ellis Medicine McClellan Street Health Center. This was following a fall that resulted in surgery.
Gloria was born in Portland, ME, on July 21, 1942 to the late Freeman H. and Estelle (Leona) Wright Sr. of Caribou, ME. She was the oldest of four children.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, D. Duane Mishler. They were married for more than 60 years. Gloria helped Duane with his studies throughout Bible College, while raising 6 young children and working part time. She worked alongside her husband and helped in founding and establishing Grace Bible Church in Valley Falls, NY, and aided in establishing home Bible studies. She enjoyed socializing with friends at home Bible studies.
Gloria worked for many years at General Electric in Waterford, NY as a forklift driver until she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor that led to her disability retirement. She bravely fought this diagnosis. It was a difficult fight but she won. Gloria also loved dogs. Her childhood dogs name was Beauty. She always talked fondly of her pet and had dreamed of the possibility of having another one in upcoming days. One of her favorite songs was "Memories", by Barbara Streisand. She enjoyed listening to Gospel hymns, they always brought a smile to her face. Her family and friends were her happiness, she loved them all dearly.
Survivors include her six children Stephen Paul (Carol Ann) Mishler of Stratford WI., Mark Allen (Pat) Mishler of Fredericksburg, VA., Cindy Lee Mishler of Stillwater, NY., Carol Sue (Michael) Foster of Lake Mills, WI., Michael John (Jaimee) Mishler of Lewiston, ME., and David Duane Mishler of Ballston Spa, NY. Along with her children, Gloria is survived by her five grandchildren Rachael (Carey) Helwig, Judith (Justin) Turner, Josiah (Kyla) Mishler, Erin Foster, and Zachary Foster, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren William, Rebecca, Hannah, Andrew, Roger, Elizabeth, Henry and one on the way Helwig; Jerimiah, Jonathan, Jameson, Jesse, Justice, Jeneva, and one on the way Turner. She is also survived by her siblings Freeman (Ellen) Wright, Jr. of Caribou, ME., Cindy (Donald) Blanchette of Woodland, ME., and Lynn (Roger) Haines of Caribou, ME.
Along with her husband and parents, Gloria is predeceased by her brother Baby Wright.
The family of Gloria Mishler would like to thank the nurses and doctors that worked closely with Gloria, for all of their help and encouragement. They would also like to thank the many friends who sent food and uplifting words during this difficult time. And lastly they would like to thank Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes for coordinating the funeral.
Relatives and friends may call from 2:00 pm 4:00 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Ave, Stillwater NY 12170. A funeral service will take place the following day Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
